Line Cord Conductors
How do you know what conductor line cord you need?
The number of conductors describes the number of gold plated connections on the plug at the end of a line cord.
The choice is a 2, 4, 6, or 8 conductor line cord. The best way to know which conductor you need is to check what cord you were previously using.
Look at the end of the cord you were using and count the gold connections on the plug, but keep in mind that if your phone is not working correctly it may be caused by using the wrong conductor line cord.
Another way to check the number of conductor cord you need is to count the number of conductors on the back of the phone or on the plug into the wall.
2 Conductor (RJ11 – 2 Conductor) – You can use a 2 conductor line cord for some applications. It is the most basic cord sold.
4 Conductor (RJ11 – 4 Conductor) – Most Line cords are this type. Lots of phones use this type.
6 Conductor (RJ11 – 6 Conductor) – You can’t go wrong using this cord, and this type guarantees full functionality.
8 Conductor (RJ45 – 8 Conductor) – If it has a big plug on the end, and it is not Cat 5 Computer cable, then this is the line cord for you.
